maschimsky@mac.com, 631-921-6217

Have you ever wanted to create multiple impressions of your work on quality papers just as Rembrandt did in the 17th century but in a way that is safe, non-toxic and easy? The answer is “Solar Plate” printing. SOLAR PLATE is a simple, safe, and fast approach to traditional etching. It does not require the use of grounds, acids or solvents. It is exposed with UV light and developed with ordinary tap water. SOLAR PLATE printmaking is used by artists, printmakers, and photographers all over the world.

Wkshp No. 2 - CHINE-COLLÉ ON SOLAR PLATES:

  •      Fee: $240 for a 2-DAY WORKSHOP
  •      LIMIT only 4 participants.
  •      10:AM to 4:PM (email maschimsky@mac.com for specific dates)

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This workshop is for both experienced and non-experienced printmakers. Chine-collé is a special printmaking technique in which the image is transferred to a surface that is then bonded to a heavier support in the printing process. This allows the image to appear on a much more delicate surface and provides a background color behind the image that is different from the surrounding support paper. Beautiful colors and textures can be achieved in the printed image through this technique. Amazing and surprising results appear!  PRINTING PAPER and 8”x10” SOLAR PLATES can be purchased from instructor at time of workshop.
